The first recommended CD of 2005 and what a good one to start. Behold! was the name of the first LP of the Blues Brothers originally issued in 1965 on Island and reissued on Trojan in 1970. This CD bring us up to date with a mix of Ska, Rock Steady, Reggae and soul. Lloyd Cambell & Philip James made up the popular male duo in 60's Jamaica. They wrote most of the early tracks and recorded mainly for Byron Lee. Most of the 45's were issued in the UK on the Blue Beat & Doctor Bird labels. The lesser know material is what makes this collection a treat. There's Always Sunshine is Rock Steady at its best again produced by Byron Lee. Much of their recording was made in the US in the mid sixties, which produced some great soul records, in particular, the* three tracks produced by Rick Hall in the Muscle Shoals studios. These were issued on US Shout and would you believe on Jay Boy in the UK. Very nicely illustrated and informative notes by Tony Rounce, a pity they have been produced in a folded sheet rather than a booklet. Highly recommended issued on Trojan TJCCD228.
